Cincinnati Students Raise $40,000 to Keep Young Emissaries Program

For five years, the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati has brought two Israeli teen ambassadors to infuse our community with modern Israeli culture and Israeli life. Called “Chaverim M’Israel”, or “Friends of Israel”, the program promotes a positive and realistic view of Israel through education and personal interaction between Israeli teens—who come to live here for a year—and members of the Cincinnati community. Unfortunately, earlier this year, the Jewish Federation announced that the program would have to be eliminated due to the economic decline.

Shinshinim Program in Cincinnati

The “Caverim MIsrael” (Friend from Israel) program runs in Cincinnati Jewish community for several years. Two teens from Israel join the Jewish community to bring their own perspective of Israel to the community, but more than that, to enhance the relationships between the twin cities of Cincinnati and Netanya, coupled together through the Jewish agency’s “partnership 2000″ program.

This Year Was The Most Amazing Year Of My Life

It was my first visit in the United States and I discovered a new world.

I found my self in the Bridgeport community which became my home.

I was excited to teach in different schools and learn a lot from the Jewish life out side of Israel.

I discovered that you can have your life as a Jew in many different ways, either as a Reform, Conservative or Modern Orthodox. It was the first time that I went to synagogues every Shabbat and loved the prayers!

 I felt like a star from Israel in the community.
